In My Time

Jeremiah Bey’s journey is a testament to how curiosity and resilience can lead to profound transformation. His path through Mentoring CHEC began unexpectedly, when he wandered into a gathering out of sheer curiosity. This unplanned moment became a turning point in his life. Despite living with autism and often preferring solitude, Jeremiah found a new sense of belonging within the supportive environment of Mentoring CHEC. Here, he discovered his own potential, transitioning from a hesitant student unsure about his future to a leader with ambitions that stretched far beyond the classroom.

Through the program, Jeremiah was inspired to dream big, becoming president of both his senior class and the entire school. Though he faced challenges in leadership and ultimately lost his position, the experience taught him critical lessons about collaboration and growth. Initially dismissive of college, Mentoring CHEC helped him reframe his future, and he began to see higher education as a stepping stone toward his ultimate goal of joining the military. Jeremiah has since graduated from CHEC and is now actively pursuing a career in the armed forces. His story reminds us that with belief, support, and the right community, every student can unlock their potential and forge a path toward their dreams.
